Crack repair in Pretoria

Subsidence after building alteration can lead to cracks in walls. It's been a while since I had seen cracks as bad as this. After looking at them we advised the client to wait while we did some wall marks to see if the cracks were getting worse or not.

We marked the crack width and length in various spots and checked back a month later and again three months later. We were satisfied that the cracks were not getting any worse and decided to repair them.

After chipping away the plaster we noticed that the cracks ran into the brick work, so decided we would do a little reinforcement of the plaster just to be sure. As we knew the cracks were not still running, we chose chicken wire and nailed it into the bricks to give a little reinforcing.

After that we plastered up.

In order to ensure a smooth line for the final painting. It is a fact that plastered finishes stand out dramatically in previously painted walls, we skimmed over the new plaster with rhinolite smoothing the wall and made sure the joins were almost invisible.

We painted with an undercoat first over the patches, and then with two coats on all walls.
